About Anne Kellas

The White Room Poems, written with support of a 2007 Australia Council Grant (for developing writers) was published by Walleah Press in late 2015. The book was awarded one of the inaugural Blue Giraffe awards of $10,000 for poetry.

Anne's most recent poetry has appeared in Island, Small Packages, Poetry Matters, Australian Poetry Journal (Dec. 2016), Australian Poetry Anthology (2016). 

Much of her work over the years appeared in the small magazines Famous Reporter and Blue Giraffe, and a bit further back in time, in the anthologies Moorilla Mosaic, Dodecahedron (NSW Poets Union), Rivers of Verse. Her work also appears sporadically in her native South Africa – most recently in New Coin, and a decade or so ago in the anthologies Like a house on fire (COSAW, Johannnesburg, 1994) and A writer in stone (David Philip, Cape Town). Anne's poems first appeared in magazines in the 1980s – early on in South Africa's Quarry, Sesame, and shortly before her emigration to Australia, in a supplement on new writers in Columbia Magazine (New York). In Australia from the 1990's her work appeared in Island, Australian Poetry, Quadrant, Westerly, Studio, Imago, Outrider, Going Down Swinging, LiNQ and online in Stylus journal, Eclectica, and The 2River View.
