Excerpt from article on poet Lisa Bellear in The Age:
Poetry matters to her. She started writing poems at the age of eight (when she also started taking photographs) and has been published internationally as well as across Australia. Her first collection, Dreaming in Urban Areas, won good reviews.

"The strange thing is, I get lots of support for my poetry from Anglo males, much more than from Anglo women. They're the ones who say, 'Lisa, can you send something to us in Oxford?' or 'Can you send something over to America?' They might be in their 60s or 70s but they know how to say hi, be friendly and respectful. It's a funny old world, you know."
